Your information
Privacy, clearly.
Your workspace is on your computer. Where an assistant does its work depends on the AI and tools you choose.
Your Roy workspace
Roy Community is a personal desktop workspace. Workspace records, conversations, and the source search index are stored on your computer. Sources can include files added to Roy and folders you choose to make available for search.
Roy prepares source material for search using a local reader. The Vault protects stored secrets locally; this does not mean that every workspace record, conversation, or document is encrypted.
The AI you connect
If you connect an online AI provider, your assistant sends the information it needs to that provider. This can include your messages, necessary conversation context, and relevant content from the Sources you give it.
That provider handles information under its own terms and privacy practices. Check those practices when choosing a provider and deciding which material to share.
A compatible local AI runs on your computer after setup. Initial downloads and tools that access external services can still use an internet connection.
The tools you allow
You choose which tools an assistant can use and when it should ask for permission. A tool that contacts an external service can share information with that service as part of the task. Choose permissions and source access to suit the work you're doing.
Copies and earlier conversations
Removing a Source does not necessarily remove information already included in a conversation, a backup, or an online provider's records. Consider those copies separately when managing your information.
This website
These pages serve their images and video directly, without embedded players from other services. The website does not include analytics, advertising trackers, contact forms, account registration, or browser preference storage.
Web servers can receive technical connection information, such as an IP address, browser details, and the time a page is requested, when delivering a website.
